I wanted to challenge myself and take on a new frontier by rebranding a program. After going through many options, I decided I wanted to completely revamp the best FCS program of all time, the North Dakota State Bison. For this project, I wanted to stick to their primary colors of Green and Yellow. I also wanted to keep a uniform look with the paper tear textures on the bottom and top of graphics, also having the wheat texture in the background of every graphic. I'm hoping this project will show off my ability to create a unique brand.
This section is for all game day graphics and graphics that can be posted on Instagram and Twitter to keep fans up to date with games and other news about the team and players. The color scheme in these, when it comes to the game, is very important. Especially with the game day graphics, I used the green background to represent home games and the white to represent away games. This way fans will know the game is home or away without having to check anything else.
In my opinion, recruiting graphics are the most important part of a graphic designer's job when working for a college team. There are many moving parts to get a player to commit to your team, but sending them consistently good graphics is a huge part. It may not make them commit on the spot, but it will make sure they know you are serious and are interested in them. That's why for this part of the rebrand, I wanted to make my own 2022 recruiting cycle hashtag and start from there. After a lot of brainstorming with other designers, they helped me come up with #BisonTrue22. I want this section to show off that I can completely build a whole recruiting brand that will make players want to come play at the school.
Wallpapers aren't essential to a brand but they are a good way to keep the fans interested in the graphics you post and it gives them a way to rep the team on their phone. I wanted to stick to the uniform look with these, but make them a little more personal for fans by making them more specific player oriented. I mean, who doesn't want to set their favorite player as their wallpaper?
Graphic designers are only as good as the photography allows them to be. Good photos are essential to making a brand and graphic look good. Only being able to use Google for my images was more of a challenge than I anticipated. Luckily, I was able to find some really good photos and used my knowledge of retouching and CC to make them pop.
